Joseph Malham, a Chicago based author and artist will speak at the John Wayne Birthplace Museum on Saturday, October 10 at noon. Malham is the author of John Ford: Poet in the Desert, an award winning biography of the legendary director whose life and Oscar-winning career is inextricably linked with John Wayne from 1927 to Ford’s death in 1973. Malham’s talk will focus on the mythic elements of Wayne’s westerns (especially his legendary collaborations with Ford) and how they helped to shape and inform American Mythology in the 20th Century. Copies of Malham’s book will be available for sale in the gift shop and he will be happy to sign all copies.
